Here is a photo of the typical center stack area for a US-market LandCruiser:

I'm specifically wondering if on the RHD Models (JDM and RoW LandCruisers) the two items marked with red arrows are flipped around???

Like this: (It just a reversed image, so please ignore the backwards writing!) :)

I'd like to move the "Diff Lock" and "Hazard" buttons to the right side of my console and then end up with a blank panel closer to the steering wheel that I can add switches / knobs to. I suspect that the factory in-dash wiring is long enough that it will reach to either side of the dash. It's hard to imagine that Toyota would have two different wiring harnesses for US vs. JDM versions of the same vehicle.

Anyway... I'll try to find the US part numbers for those two plates, and from there maybe it will be simple to figure out what the RHD versions of those part numbers should probably be.

If anyone has any tips or clues, I'm all ears!

Thanks!

03+ dash, but it is, indeed, on the other side.

Somewhere on here, a few months back, guys were talking about doing the same thing, so they stop hitting the CDL with their knee...(a problem I don't have because I'm short).

EDIT: Here's one thread

Thanks!

No idea what I should be using for search terms to find those old threads, but I'll keep digging.

My LC is a 2001..... No idea how hard it will be to find parts, but it would be really slick if I can get those RHD plates and reverse the buttons! :)

Well.... I'm one step closer!!!

Got this in the mail yesterday:

That's the RHD version of the filler panel for the lower left center stack area (Where the Hazard and Diff Lock normally are for the LHD models)

Now I just need to locate the RHD panel to hold the Hazard and Diff Lock buttons.... time to go scour the parts catalogs again! :)

This is a great idea, please keep us updated.

Just took the center stack apart and got humbled.... It looks nothing like I was expecting.

I'll post photos tomorrow, but it's a LOT more complicated back behind that hazard / CLD switch than just a couple of wiring harnesses and snap-lock button housings!

So.... here's the problem that I was referring to last night....

I pulled the center stack out and removed the 4 molex plug harnesses and laid it down on the workbench

You can see in this image, the "blanking plate" is on the left side of the image (since the console is facing down) and the Hazard/CDL buttons are hidden under a cover on the right-hand side.

I removed the perimeter screws from the center cover plate and found this:

There are wires that run between the upper and lower PCB, and there isn't much of a "service loop" in those wires to really move the top section away from the lower area to get working room.

Finally, here is what is actually behind the Hazard/CDL buttons:

It's a small PCB with wires running to the large center PCB... and a bracket that MIGHT be a universal fit (left or right).... but the wires themselves are way too short and would never reach the connector if I moved it to the opposite side.... they'd all have to be lengthened and resoldered.

The final problem was that I just couldn't even find a way to pop that assembly out of the panel. I got it loose (by removing a couple of screws) but it physically doesn't pass through the front hole cleanly. I have no idea how the factory put this thing together!!!

Anyway.... My guess is that I'd need to find a RHD version of that switch panel (with a longer wiring harness)....and hopefully the center HVAC PCB is truly universal for both LHD & RHD vehicles and is plug-compatible with the harness that is already in my truck. I'll try to pull some part numbers to see how much some of these items will cost, but it's starting to look like it's going to be too complicated and expensive to justify the work involved.
