Can somebody clarify exactly what the "propeller shaft bolts" are? The regular oil/lub/filter maintenance includes retorquing these.

I know, I know, idiot D'oh! Newb! and all that. But that's what a good forum is for, right? So I don't have to look like an idiot in front of my wife explaining why the prop shaft fell off and pole-vaulted her into the next lane with the Christmas presents spilling all over the highway.

I have looked throught he FSM for a diagram that would explain this directly, but can't find it.

Are we talking about the bolts that hold the U-Joints together?
Or the bolts to the flanges in and out of the T-case?
Anybody got a pic(s)?

Four bolts, either end of the drive shaft. 16 in total. Connects the flange on the differential to the U joint and the upper U joint to the flange on the transfercase.

Unlikely to need tightening but can't hurt to check them.

Don't forget that the torque for the rear driveshaft bolts is higher than the front driveshaft bolts.
