Well it's official!!

I'm back in Canada with a plan to get Andy running again and get him back home to BC and out of Ontario.

Rough plan :

1. Change all of the oil... Trans / transfer / diff /engine
2. Charge the batteries / replace them on warranty :hillbilly:
3. Clean / oil the air filter.
4. Repack wheel bearings
5. Get insurance
6. Fix the trailer
7. Pack up all the random s***.
8. Drive to the island.
9. Build Andy a new home
10. Fly to Sweden

Well I've been pretty bad at updating this currently sitting in calgary.

My uncle met me at the airport and I got started getting the truck going. And enjoying the old family house.

Spent a lot of time trying to get the trailer all prepped straightened the tounge and then found out that the leafs where broken on both sides and the princess auto ones didn't fit. Found a spring shop that could set me up with what I needed but then the wheels where hitting the fenders. Got some help from some ontario buddies but in the end ditched the trailer and just put the spare on a luggage rack.

First day I drove from ottawa to sault ste Marie. Was fairly uneventful except for when I almost ran out of fuel and used the Jerry can to fill the truck. Left the gas cap on the wheel and had to turn around and go back 20km to find it. Ended up camping at Lake superior under the truck.

Back to the road trip...

The next morning I woke up then headed to Wawa to eat some breakfast.

About 25km down the road I started to really lose power on a hill. Figured it was probably low in fuel since the gauge stopped working the night before so I pulled over and dumped in the Jerry can. Wouldn't run so I thought perhaps it was the fuel filter or it needed a bleed.

Tried to one man bleed it but ended up killing the battery. A nice guy from cn rail stopped and helped me to bleed it. Probably took us a couple of hours to get everything running again. About 4 hours later I found myself back in Wawa buying fuel and another round of timmies.

Seemed to be running better with the new fuel filter so I stoped in and tried to get another at a but this huge can tire didn't have any.

Shrugged it off and got back on the road. Ended up sleeping in a hostel in thunder bay.

Was that the Wawa Cdn Tire? It's uphill all the way to Calgary from Thunder Bay, have fun

Hope the 40 does well through the BC passes!

Are you moving back to Canada permanently? Or just an extended visit?

Got an early morning start and headed for calgary. Around Brooks the temperature dysrttef to creep up higher and higher. Eventually it started to get quite hot. I stopped for fuel and it cooled down the back on the road and it started to heat up faster and faster.

So I went and banged on a farmers door. Used his shop and borrowed a little bit of rtv. Pulled the thermostat that it just wasn't opening.

Got back onto the road and headed to calgary... Didn't seem to heat up as much on the way there.

Got up in the morning and went and had some breakfast with Jeremy then got on the road.

Had a fairly uneventful drive up the mountain pass although spent some time with the semis in the right lane

Stopped in lake Louise then a few random picture stops as we cruised on through. Temperatures seemed to be under control although of course its running a little bit cool when you're just cruising downhill.

Was a great trip with only a couple of minor breakdowns / problems. Nice to manage to actually drive the whole way this time without any tow truck assistance.

its the old road trip in reverse...

Yep pretty much it really felt like it as I recognised spots along the way like the timmies in saskatchewan where we roll started the truck last time...
