I'll be spending the next several weeks trying to bring the paint on my newly purchased 97 FZJ80 back to life. The hood is pretty badly oxidized and basically flat in appearance, as is the roof, but the sides aren't as bad. Just a LOT of swirls and scratches. I've got some Meguiars ultra cut compound for the bad stuff, and Menzerna intensive polish, final finish, and PO85RD to bring the fresh paint to a nice shine. All applied with a Porter Cable dual action polisher and Lake Country CCM and Hydro polishing pads. I'll be waxing the finished paint with Pinnacle Liquid Souveran paint sealant. Maybe over a couple coats of Klasse SG first since this is going to be a beach truck and I'll need all the protection I can get.
The paint is Antique Sage on a 40th anniversary.
I of course clayed the whole thing last night, except for the center of the roof, and will begin polishing tonight. Naturally I'll be posting some pics of the finished product and maybe some before/afters too.
I've only ever done one other car that was purchased used and neglected, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the LC. Wish me luck.
