Looking at a '98 that has a stock headunit. I've seen later model 100's that have a DVD NAV unit in them. I searched and searched (here, ebay, google) can't find that unit for sale ANYWHERE. I know I can go aftermarket, but I want something that fits and blends in well.

In any case, I'd love an replacement system for the stock, bland unit. It doesn't have to be NAV but I'd like something that fits the stock hole (no pockets please) and that looks good. DVD and NAV are a plus (with a full sized, non-popout screen) but I'm open. Crutchfield isn't much help (all their options are $1500 and "needs modification" to fit)

Thanks!

Kenwood DDX series and some Eclipse double din decks fit in perfectly. My DDX8017 went in with no modifications and it looks great. I had a single din previously and didn't like the pocket, like yourself. The DDX has a build in DVD, but the NAV unit is sold separatly. The DDX8017 was pretty expensive, but they do sell the 7017 and 6017 that are the same deck with fewer options. Here is a link to a previous thread that shows my Kenwood installed. If you no a search, I am sure you will find pictures of others (Eclipse) installed.

p.s. I would recommend away from Crutchfield. They are way too expensive. You can find the same products for cheaper at many places online. Try www.etronics.com for example. I have used them in the past. Also, if you want to use an aftermarket deck with the factory amp, you will need a wire harness. Links for this can be found in the FAQ section at the top of this page.

Thank you for the details, much appreciated. Just what I wanted.

Jensen 9020TS is another option at 600 bucks and built in tv tuner.

If you don't want aftermarket you can always do the 05 Camry unit like I did.

Went with one of these...

The interface is not very fancy or catchy, but has a built in TV tuner + DVD player.. watch out for cops...

I bought the plug that runs the factory amp (And got it installed) at Pagan Car Audio in Balto. MD. Don't let an idiot bypass the amp and subwoofer, get the harness..
I think this is the one..

I have this other one installed in my 4 Runner, it requires a separate DVD player, so i installed an overhead screen/ player and wired it to the head unit. Lots of features, great sound

Are you sure this is the harness?

It depends on which factory stereo you have. The single disc uses a different harness than the 6 disc. The one on the link looks like one for a single disc. bit can't be sure. I used the single disc one I posted in the FAQ and it works great.

If you have the factory amp.. that's the harness you need.

I have a 2k LC, and have that harness with my alipine 9855 HU. Works great and still uses the factory amp.

Mikeace- Question on 05 Camry Nav install

Like the NAV install job- looks really sharp. I'd like to do one of these myself in my 98' . Was it difficult to do? Did you need adapter harnesses? Where did you place the navi unit? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
