I broke the glass in my liftgate yesterday. But I have another window in the old rusty liftgate. How hard is it to swap glass? Is it something I can do or should I wait and bring it to windshield doctor on Monday?

easy.

close the door and go on the inside, use a couple screwdrivers to pry up the inside rubber to the outside and remove the window with the seal.

Practice doing it the right way with the broken window. Then when you do the other one it will be easier.

When installing you wrap a thin rope around the outter seal and push the window to the opening and have some one draw the seal over by pulling the rope the inside.

The FSM shows this procedure.

I got my wife all trained to do it quite nicely :)

Exactly, quite easy, probably one of the easiest windows to swap. If you gather up all the flat head screw drivers you can find and insert them one after the other along one of the long edges the whole welt will pop over the pinch weld, very similar to removing/installing a bike tire.

On reinstall, I find that a piece of coated electrical wire of a decent gauge (12 works well) slides nicely over the pinch. Install the weatehrstrip on the new window, wrap the wire around the weatherstrip where the pinch weld will sit, lower the bottom lip onto the liftgate pinch weld, have someone apply pressure from the outside and go around inside to pull the two ends of the wire toward you, when the wire pulls out of the groove it spreads the weatherstrip over the pinch weld and the window seat back in.

I guess I'll have to buy or borrow some flatheads. I have 1 or 2 that arent very good. I'm going to check with a person that I know who works at Windshield World (same guy I bought both sets of tires from) and see how much he would do it for. I also lost my SROR sticker when it broke so Jim if you read this I'd like another sticker to replace it. I like representing cruiser companies in a world of Heeps here in VT.
