Has anyone tried to recover the seats backs with carpet on the earlier 200 series that are wrapped in leather? It looks like Toyota wised up and started running carpet on the newer models but I figured it would be an improvement to resist future damage and clean up the interior. I probably wouldn't go back with a tan interior, but the idea is the same.

So I had some free time and finally tackled this chore. I pulled off the factory leather and then hit the residue with a wire wheel followed by a da sander. Once it was reasonably clean I sprayed on some 3m super 77and attached the fabric. I'm by no means an upholstery guy but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I learned that the clips on the drivers side are broken so now I need to source a new one before repeating the process 😔

Toyota makes a lot of that stuff replaceable.. if you post a picture I can try to dig up the part numbers.

Good work either way, looks great

Definitely interested in this if there is a direct replacement part number. My cup holder is covered in scratches too and $200+ to replace crap cup holders isn’t my idea of a good time.
