I'd like to do some preventive maintenance and change out the radiator with the newer style as I've detected a hairline crack. According to repair records, the radiator and water pump were replaced about 50-55k miles ago(or 8ish years). Should I replace the water pump while I'm at it even if its not leaking or save my $150?

I’d save the money with that few miles on the part, assuming the one installed was Genuine Toyota.

Most of the pumps that did actually fail were earlier model year.. if yours was done it would be one of the later iterations of the part. Should be good for a long time.

Stupid question and I am sure that the search function would answer this but at what mileage should the radiator and waterpump be replace. I am about 75K and on the original?

If you have a late 2018 rig with the updated radiator you may never need to replace it. The early part tends to start cracking and eventually let go between 75 & 120k.. most people do the water pump since they are already in there. Some of the early 5.7s had faulty water pumps, but as mentioned the later ones didn’t seem to have the same failure rate.

Giant thread with more info (you can just check out the last ten pages or so)

Thanks. Mine was actually purchased in Oct of 2017, so likely I have the earlier version.

Thanks again.

Probably so. Just monitor the seam in front of the flat area on the upper tank as outlined in the thread and you’ll have plenty of heads up to replace the radiator as needed.

And you’re welcome.
