Replacing my dearly departed 2008 VW V8 Touareg

After over 105k miles my dependable Treg hit a patch of black ice and took two other vehicles out while sustaining irreparable damage. Unable to repair it for both cost and lack of certain no longer made parts has led me to try and find a suitable replacement.

The closest I've managed to find is a 2021 Series 200 LC which checks in at 10 pounds lighter than my Treg but doesn't have air suspension nor electronic brake controller. Bit it is what it is, other than the car is in Iowa, 3,000 miles from here. So negotiating some must have and must not haves (All Season need to be disposed of right away, whatever oil is in there replaced by Mobil1 0w-40 (we hit -38F this morning) and block heater etc. which I'll add when or if the car gets here.

Sorry for the ramble, but I'm new to Toyota (never owned one), my stable comprises a 2020 Macan S and 2021 992C4S and a 2012 Gehl turbo diesel skid steer. I do all my own work and am a moderator on the Macan and 992 forum on rennlist,com.

Please bear with my stupid questions as I become familiar with LC's. Three dumb ones:

1) What analyzer do you folks use? Launch would work on a 2021 LC?

2) Any of you installed brake controllers (like Tekonsha)?

3) It alas has a third row seat that I need to remove as my Siberian huskies (I have 4 of them) do not like to sit int he back). Can you remove this folding thing? Any how-to's?

RedArc Tow-Pro Elite is a very popular option. I use it myself and am very happy with it. Plug & play harness available.

Third row can be removed in 5 minutes with basic hand tools.

I assume for 1) you mean OBD port use. It depends on your level of interest. There are excellent apps for basic and fairly advanced stuff but you can go full in with Toyota Techstream. Lots of info on that in the forum. Just type techstream in the search bar.

If you get the truck, post back all the things you want to do like remove 3rd row and we’ll all chime in with DIY links. And yes, many of us removed 3rd row with just the 3 bolts each seat.

Thanks for your reply. The analyzer is what software do you use to connect to the vehicle to work on it? I believe Toyota uses Techstream and I was wondering if anyone uses the Launch x431 or similar
