Ha Ha Ha I wouldn't. It's pretty bad! All I can say is what were they thinking?

shackles...or lack thereof

jealous much???

Cross posting this on the "greatest mod ever" thread in the 40/55 tech section. prolly get a bunch of how-to questions about it. pretty awesome. It's cool cuz you can really feel the bumps...lets you know you're alive :cheers:

Just add some shackles...think of the lift you'll get out of them!

Yeah, can't wait. The ass end sags so the front will look like a gasser by the time I'm done with it.

:hhmm::rolleyes:
I think maybe it was the first step in a shackle reversal
they just fergot to finish the rear by installing a shackle; remove spring hanger, drill thru frame, sleeve, voila
you'll need some shims under the axle to roll that pinion back up tho
how is the caster while driving, bet it goes good and straight

front may go down with flex of springs, they prolly welded with weight off
:popcorn::popcorn::beer::beer:

Once again Pinion (Rob) came thru and helped finish up the clutch/trans install. Great guy and absolutley refused to take anything but pizza for his efforts....not even a case of wine.

Can't say enough how helpful he was and how much fun it was wrenching whilst listening to the Allman Bros and sipping a little single malt. Good times!

Thanks again Rob. Will hit the road tomorrow for the trial run.

(PS. the trans got dropped on Robs hand and barely a tear was shed. I started to crap myself as I had visions of ambulance rides but he was fine. This was before the scotch was broken out BTW!)

Hey great. Glad everything got installed. I was going to stop by but ran into some of my own trouble.

All good. 2 people were good for today as it was more of re-rigging the hoist and getting the trans in with all the wrong tools and mickey mousing the hoist

Just finished up putting the driveshafts in, trans hump and interior.....like nothing ever happened. We'll see if it works tomorrow

The scotch was fabulous and was purely for medicinal purposes. :D

Have you had a chance to drive it yet? I dont remember if the slave bleeder screw was tightened down.

Yep! Drives great. Most of the noise from the trans is gone but there's still some whining. I'd say it's a 75% reduction in noise inside the truck. I bled the clutch 2 days ago and it feels perfect.

Got the TrXus tires on the other day. HUGE improvement in driving noise and ease.

Thanks again!

So shall we guess where on the road Ill need to position my trailer to pick it up on the way back south?

Yeah....about that. Finally got on the road for a drive above 2nd gear and ALL the noise from before is still there. Not happy. Problem is inside the transmission. Hopefully I can find someone who has one that I can pop in this winter. Sucked getting that trans back in so not thrilled. New clutch is nice though.

It'll make it up and back no problem.

Wow sorry to hear that. I didn't even ask how it ran when I saw you. Figured it was fine since you drove it up there. I'm always close for a helping hand.

Cool, thanks. It's loud but luckily Lane was nice and gave me his old 4 speed. I think I'm gonna pop his in this winter and rebuild the one that is in it. Never done it so it will be good to learn without any deadline or dead truck. Once the snow flies or the trans dies I'll start ripping things apart.
