I've searched and read through various threads but need some clarification. I'm looking to replace my stock Mark Levinson (non nav) head unit in a 2001 Lexus LX 470. I have the new head unit, a Pioneer AVH-2600BT, and the plastic surround. I'm not aware of any wiring harness that is available and Crutchfield said they haven't researched the vehicle. I've done some head unit installs, but would consider myself a novice. To install this, do I just follow the wiring info I found here and connect it to the corresponding connections on the new head unit? I'll be keeping the existing amp and speakers for now.

Check the wires from your car with the link you found.
Metra does have connectors for them.

Sorry, I've read that page a handful of times and still don't get it or see the Metra connector mentioned. Maybe I'm just a little slow. Could you be more specific?

The easiest route is to go on Beat Sonic website and order the Mark Levinson harness kit, but it is pricey (for my pocket). Plan B, do some research here and at TLCFAQ website so you know what you are getting into.

Those metra harness look worth a shot.

Metra isn't mentioned on Robs page, but mentioned on Mud and other forums. I have used a Metra connector with cables, although I had to modify it as my amplifier didn't like the new stereo.
According to metras site, this is what you need: http://www.metraonline.com/part/71-8113
But others to confirm as my car isn't US model.

I installed a similar head unit in a 2001 LX by just splicing the wires and then crimping them with the correct corresponding wire.
If you don't find a connector it's not too difficult to complete the install - just take your time and match up the wires.

So I think I'd be capable of matching and connecting the correct wires, but a local installer said there will be issues with the amp that is installed on that system. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

A common issue with aftermarket head unit and OEM system is a static/hiss noise that is noticeable especially at low volume. I can't testify that this exists with Mark Levinson. If it's a huge concern, I believe beat sonic sells the hardware for a seamless install. They will answer your question if you email them.

So I'm connecting the wires according to the list on the TLC site, but there are no (-) connections listed for each speaker. Are they all connected to a common ground, the black signal ground?

This is what is listed:

1 +B (blue/yellow)
2 Beep (green)
3
4
5 ???? (red/white) Signal RR +
6
7 Mute Amp (orange)
8 ???? (pink) probably Signal FL +
9 Signal Ground (black)
10
11 Acc + (gray)
12 Illumination + (white/green)
13 Antenna + (black/red)
14
15 Amp + (red/black)
16
17
18 ???? (violet) probably Signal RL +
19 ???? (yellow) probably Signal FR +
20 Ground (brown)

So I went ahead and assumed that all of the negative speaker connections would go to the black signal ground wire. I have power to the head unit and it appears to be functioning properly, but I have no sound to the speakers. If I turn it way up, I get a pop or two through the system, so I think they're getting power, but I obviously don't have much of a clue regarding any of this stuff. i've checked my connections, and they seem good.

Skinnyhb...did you find a solution? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the exact same unit and would love to go in with the wisdom of your experience!
