I need to replace the front headlight assemblies for my LX450, due to collision damage.

I was wondering if I got a set of FJ80 headlight assemblies and grill would it all bolt-up the same to the core support?

If anyone knows or has done this please let me know. This will save me a huge amount of money and headache.....

Im not concerned if the only difference is the lower turn signal valance or bumper mating up correctly, I'm going with an ARB bumper. As for fenders, I'm replacing one of those too, so I vould go with an FJ80 front fender too.

Thanks
-Jeff

that would be great if they were...but I've been told they are not.

and I cant get them aftermarket, from a place like "perfect fit", ect.., they don't make them. I'm really not surprised, Lexus only made them for 2 years (1996-1997), so not much of a market for them...

wowzers. I know a lot of peeps on here bough aftermarket replacements on EBAY (Some really cool looking ones too). those are cross brand units. I think these would be too.

The lights and grille are not the same. BUT what I do not know for sure is if you had to remove all of it and replace it all would it fit?

By the way, the lights I got where for a Land cruiser not the Lexus, So in theory the Landcruiser lights will bolt right up regarless of the Grill. Grill is needed so that it fits nicer. I didn't do anything more to mine just swapped grilles.

Hope this helps.

That is EXACTLY what I would like to know.

I hope somebody knows the answer, anyone....?

i think one bolt hole may need to be modified a bit to fit, and the chrome trim is angled a bit more to cover the lights on the Lx's I had an LX Headlight in my old 80 when i bought it

little confused, You "just swapped grilles." Did you mean just swapped lights?

How complete were those headlights, did they come as a complete assembly: the rear black plastic that bolts to the core support, inner chrome plastic with bulb sockets, and lens?

I need both the rear and forward of the assembly and the lens, mine got smashed by the previous owner! Grrrr

I have a 97' LX450 and a friend has a 96' 80 and the headlights are way different. Don't think it will work...

I really think you could help if I could ask you a few questions:

Are the fenders, hood, lower turn signal valance the same shape?

Is it just basically just the front grill that is different shaped? If so I'll just get an aftermarket grill.

LX450 headlights are of a different shape than the FJ80 and FZJ80 land cruisers. They will not interchange w/o replacing all of the front end.

Alright, time for me to chime in. If you are planning to buy new headlights together with matching grill, then it will fit, no problems at all. If you buy just the headlights then the grill will not fit perfectly but it isn't noticeable. But you mentioned lights+grill so just have peace of mind and get them. All the 80 series throughout all production years had the same bolt locations for the lights.

Thank you very much.

And to everyone, in several days of looking over the internet I wasn't able to find the answer. You guys answered in about an hour. Thats awesome!

I have played with some intermix, namely FJ80 and LX450, but not every combination so take with salt,

I believe the body opening for the grille, headlights & lower valance is the same for all years/models, I suspect the bolt holes are the same also but I never got that far, the parking light trim changes over the years and you need the matching trim to your headlight year to look OK, but I think fit of the parking light to fender stays the same.

as far as I know there are three headlight setups, FJ80 (91/92), Land Cruiser FZJ80, and LX450 FZJ80

FJ80

(91/92)
widest headlights,
narrowest grille,
narrow grille opening in lower valance,

none of these parts will intermingle with FZJ80 parts but you may be able to swap headlight grille and lower valance (and parking light trim for matching appearance) with 93/97 as a whole assembly

FZJ80 93-97 land cruiser,
medium width headlights,
medium width grille
same lower valance as 96/97 LX450

FZJ80 96/97 LX450
narrowest headlights,
widest grille,
same lower valance aa 93-97 land cruiser

93-97 headlights with grille should swap without having to swap lower valance but you may need parking light trim

An ARB bumper without lower valance looks ok but if you look for more than a moment it is apparent there is something missing

I swapped the lights and the grille. The lights where listed for a lancruiser on ebay, and yes all you need to do is get a toyota grille to make those fit just look at my pictures. The only thing that is not that noticeable but it's there is the little gap underneath the hood where the top of the light is.

I bought the lights off ebay for 150 plus shipping. I also got a grille from a landcruiser and swapped the emblem.

I salvaged the truck from a couple in San Diego, I live in Gilroy CA.

Not sure who sells these but you can find them if you a search for them on ebay under toyota landcruiser not FJ80.

Hit me up if have anymore ???

MikePL said it all!
