Hey all! 2 part question. First, does anyone know of a replacement front bumper that mounts to your frame behind the crumple point? (Not sure it's dot legal) Second, what bumpers do y'all like? I'm leaning towards either the metaltech tube bumper with bash plate, or the demello evil eye front bumper.

You are looking at two of the most popular for sure.

I think ARB is the only one that is DOT legal / crash tested and air bag compliant. They all bolt to the frame horns though, in front of the crumple area.

The other dot legal bumper is tjm

I have installed a number of different FJC bumpers, and have a Demello on my own. I've been very happy with it, but if I was starting over I would buy an Expedition One. I thought it was the best-designed of all the plate bumpers I have installed.

RockTek used to make a really cool tube bumper; maybe they still do, but it is just one guy in a rented garage and he is hit and miss with getting the work out. Top-quality work when he does though.

I will eventually fit a winch, but I haven't decided what I am going to do for a winch bumper yet. If I get a full bullbar it will be aluminum, for weight and rust reasons. But I might just get the winch mount from US Offroad that fits between the frame rails in the factor bumper.

I need to do more research on approach angles. Some of the bullbars I have seen don't seem to improve approach angle at all over stock.

I've looked at the rocktek bumper and do like it. I considered it over the Metaltech but wasn't sure I liked how far out the bash plate is on it.

Demello has/had (its been a while) a sick aluminum bumper that I thought seriously about ... pricey but pretty sick ... can't remember the name ... didn't buy it, my 40 cried out for a front axle rebuild ...
