I need to replace my battery... or at least I think I do. The amp gauge ususlly sits at 13, but drops down to 12 or less if the wipers or turn signals are turned on.

I think the PO put too small a battery in mine as well.

What are you all running?

check your battery cables(-+) as well as frame grounds.

if it is the battery I really like the Excide Ortitals, a pair looks great in a 60 ;)

If your an OEM freakazoid, you can get Toyota batteries. A guy in our club (LSLC) uses only Toyota parts, and thus he uses Toyota batteries. Their good quality, that's for sure. I forget if their expensive or not.

Pimp... what do you have going on under there? You have moved some stuff around, I take it.

Thanks for the replys so far. The battery in mine now looks to be pretty old, not to mention too small. I think I will spring for the Exide. Is that OrTital or OrBital, Pimp? Heh.

Its an Orbital Extreme they make a few flavors, this is the bling bling model $130. the Optima red tops are OK as well, I just don't like the yellow tops. If you want some real bling........the Odyssey are great, got a pair in my fj40, but they are not cheap and I would say not needed unless you need a small powerfull battery for a uniigue placement, which I had in my fj40, I used 2 1200MJT's in the stock tray.....very happy but they are $150 each.

cables, I make my own with 1/0 welding cable.

yes stuffs been moved around, I added 2 batts, replaced stock tray(and added 2nd) with stainless trays($50 each) also moved the overflow bottle by using a OEM hj60 mount, added a 200 amp Mean Green alt. also a Wrangler dual battery switching set up. there is also a 200 amp fusible link going from the alt to the batteries. Also an ARB compressor. Not one hole was drilled everying mounts up to a stock location or existing un-used hole. Same set up(besides the alt) will work in a fj62, some things might be a bit different but real close.

I have one in my other 82 fj40, it seems to be a great battery, forget who makes them for Toyota, prolly Interstate
