My choke cable broke, last night I pulled it apart, and the cable has pulled free inside the housing. It looks like it just gts soldered into the end of the knob. My question is has anyone repaired this by resoldering, does it work? The rest of the cable looks fine. Toyota Dealer wants $50.00 for part #78410-90A03

I have done this. Soldering works fine. Make sure to heat the brass head up to clean the inside of it out. If you take it apart to do the soldering, make sure you have all the pieces back in the right order or it will take a long time and up the frustration level. Shouldn't take that long, a quick after dinner project if you already have the assembly out.

Good Luck.

Went to repair cable and I have no solder, really want it done right now so little JB Weld and its stuck together, I will let it dry good and then throw it back in, Will see how long it holds up, NAPA has an aftermarket choke cable for $6.00 that should work just fine, only problem is the little choke light on the dash won't light up any more.

Turns out jb weld does not work well on choke cable repair, got some solder going to try again, FYI it is posible to operate the choke at the carb and turn the key while satnding outside the vehicle with the window down, just remember to put in neutral....

Well got it soldered back together, and seems to hold I opted to remove the bb's. They stuck so good in the notches that I would have to pull preaty hard to get it back and the choke would come all the way out putting strain on the solder, without the bb's cable pulls smooth and allows more adjustment for just the right amount of choke.

you know a new OEM replacement part is not that expensive and would install in less time than it's taken you to get to this point.... around $30 IIRC...

just a thought,

At toyota, dealer in town $50.00 (thats a full tank of gas), my repair cost me nothing but time which in total was less than a half hour of actually working on it.
