Does anyone know a place that can repair an ABS module? Replacements are $800.

Thanks

Do you have the ABS, Brake, VSC, ATRAC and a few others on your dash illuminated? Are you unable to connect to the ABS unit from the under hood connection, probably not meaning your unit is dead. I have the same problem and have been waiting for a unit to hit ebay cheap as I have a hard time spending the 800$ from Cruiserparts or $1200 for a new unit.

Strange issue. Driving at 35 MPH on a right had turn (sharp turn) the anti skid light come son for about 3 seconds. My mechanic after a lot of troubleshooting, says teh ABS module circuit board is defective, as all these components are wired in together, and that is causing the problem.

Not sure what to think....no warning lights come on, except the anti slip as described on the corner!

Did you also hear a few beeps? 2000 or newer? Are you sure it wasn't just VSC doing its job of keeping you out of the ditch. ;)

Hi Oregon LC...yes, you are quite correct, in that there are no warning lights on the dash, and no sign there is something wrong. However, we have driven this same road the same way for 14 years, and never had an issue with the anti slip light coming on, with teh beeping for about 3-4 seconds. That is what raised the concern - why now?

However, since it only happens on one turn, going over 35 mph, we have decided to leave things alone until we have a more definite reason to worry!

The tires are 6 months old, alignment was done at the same time, and the brakes are about the same age. The mechanic did clarify, that it is not teh ABS module, but the anti slip module - seems that when they plug in to the ECU port, they cannot communicate with the anti slip module.

Do you think it could be a mechanical suspension/steering part? We had the rack bushings changed to poly about the same time as the alignment, and all tie rods are 1-2 years old. However none of teh ball joints/A arms have ever been touched. Truck has 207K, all street driving.

Any thoughts you have are appreciated!

Ok, so here is a strange update! When I drive the same corner at 32 - 35 mph, and if there is a passenger in the passenger front seat, there is no Anti Skid light, beeping or left front wheel braking. Does this help, and would be grateful to any responses and thopughts?

Thanks

Bummer you didn't get a lot of responses on your question. I just had total ABS\pump\accumulator failure. My indepedent mech declined to do the job as he said he had multiple issues with bleeding\clearing codes. Toyota's answer was replace everything. AFter a lot of reading, I'd suggest ABS sensor. Search on ih8mud and removed\clean the sensor on the wheel in question. If you want to drop a few bucks, go get it on a computer and get the codes.

I had a similar situation after I changed to poly bushings. Everything was good for about a month. Then. . . I have a sharp downhill right hand turn around 30mph. It started screaming at me and sometimes would lock the left front wheel thinking I was in a skid. Very annoying. Found out the poly bushings were toast. They just couldn't handle the forces I put on the old girl. I have since changed to Whiteline bushings and no more alarms.

We will see how long they last. YMMV and I have the '02 version of the steering rack. I would recommend re-inspecting the steering bushings and maybe re-torque to see if that solves the problem.

I'm new to the forum and don't know if I should start a new thread, but I'll try here first. l am having a similar problem with my LX470. Two separate incidents where the left front tire locked up for a short burst and scared the hell out of my wife. Here's a little background. The AHC is disconnected and the system flashes OFF constantly. The former owner had put a coilover type of shock to raise the failed hydraulic suspension and was sitting low up front. A shop here reindexed the torsion bars to raise the front end. Both incidents happened after this was done. Both times at 60 MPH and one was while turning left slightly going downhill, other going straight. Alarm goes off on dash. Brakes work fine. Comments and suggestions welcomed.

One more thing. The Rack and Pinion needs to be replaced according to the mechanic that reindexed the bars.

I used modulemaster.com for my BMW 540i, but they don't seem to have one for the 100 series LC. You can send them a repair request or give them a call?
