Alright, I've been waiting patiently for almost two months for a buddy who knows a PPG rep to get me a hook-up deal on paint needed to finish my 40. At this point, I'm chalking it up as a fail as nothing has materialized.

Is Barrett the best place in town to get some PPG paint samples mixed up?

Here are the candidates for my 40:

45894 Olive Gray
44402 Fashion Green
44678 Nebula Green
44399 Breathe Green
47627 Light Olive
99156 Sulfur Yellow

I'd like to hear any feedback on how best to proceed or where to go for help. Also, I'm going to shoot this in a single stage urethane.

I got my paint at summit.

There's also an AC delco place on the corner of Glendale and mccarran that does custom mix stuff too as well as pre mix.

Ray suggested I go to Industrial Finishes on Mira Loma. Today I stopped by and had them mix up three paint samples for me to choose from. The problem I had is that they could not find several of the PPG numbers I had for the Toyota paint codes.

So, the finalists are:

Fashion Green (left)

Olive Grey (center)

Light Olive (right)

I've all but eliminated Olive grey so the real choices are between the two lighter greens.

I REALLY like the "fashion green" all the way to the LEFT looking at the front.
It's different. There are GOBS of 40's in the other colors.
Just MHO!

Nice color choice!! And it looks like it sprays well or your just one hell of a painter??

Nice paint. I like the one on the far left of the last picture. Looks very rich and warm. Should look good with black accents and tires.

Another vote for the Fashion Green. Definitely like the color better than the others and like Chicago said, there are loads of 40s out there in the others.
I think Ray recommended that place to me too, I am debating on spraying my own vs. doing ML over the entire truck. Really the cost for the supplies will be about the same, it is just that with spraying I will have to purchase an air compressor large enough to run the gun, gun, etc. which will add quite a bit of cost. That is, unless I can find a garage or someones place that I can borrow their equipment to spray over a long weekend or what not.

I would like to use the industrial stuff as I have heard good things about the "toughness" of the paints vs standard acrylic/enamel auto paints and really BeBe wont be a show stopper so if she looks good from 5ft/10ft away then I will be happy.

I would suggest that you put a streak of white and a streak of black across the hood to represent how the white lid and black bumpers/tires will contrast.

One other consideration. Driving west on I-80 in the afternoon across Nevada means a lot of hood reflection into tired eyes. The brighter, the darker the sunglasses will have to be. Nothing new filtered W/S glass won't fix, but just another point to consider. I won't drive chromed out Harley's for the same reason.

Good to see you getting some paint on the rig! Don't do like I did and wait a year between painting the different parts now. ...
