So Im looking for some ideas on removing the cranknut off a 2F that is on a motor stand, not in the truck. Ive got the main bearing secured by way of ingenious routing of cable :grinpimp: and a 3' pipe on the socket but nothing gives. Ive tried the weak heat (propane) and PB for a couple days and no luck still.

Anyone got a real moment of genious..... or done this before?

Thanks

It's assumed that you have a good bit of the motor torn down, could you hook up a battery, disconntect lead to dizzy if still installed and just bump the starter?

EDIT: That won't do a thing, you don't have a flywheel....gotta start thinking and reading.

Just got back from SEARS for the 3/4 adapter for my Impact Wrench. Wearin it out and getting nothing but hearing damage. Hmm; might be time for a real torch? or keep at the impact every chance i get till she breaks loose.

Wish i was drivin around in a new 40 instead.

So um.... this thing wouldnt be reverse threaded would it? steves here and he stayed at a holiday in express last night.

R u series....... I stayed at one too :p

If you were in charlotte I could borrow a work truck with our big impacts on them........ I think they throw out 2500ft/lbs.... they do a great job on the tractor trailers
but I think it might cause you some more problems

J, you might want to throw this up in the 40/55 tech forum. I'm sure there's a lot of folks that could chime in, I just don't know myself, but I don't think they are rev threaded.

(I only ask this because it's something I might forget to do, but-)Did you bend the tabs back on the 'locknut' that holds the crank nut in place?

I borrowed a 3/4" impact from a shop when I was in the same position a few years ago. It worked like a charm. I wish you the best of luck though, if your impact isn't any help right now.

thanks guys..... didnt get it apart before heading outta town but looking to get right back into it after GSMTR. I looked for locking tabs and there appear to be none. the 1/2'' impact is just not enough, and the 4' bar wouldnt budge it even w/ suspending my entire weight on it :(

There is no locking tab washer. I asked around at GSMTR and I think i heard it came on F's and F and a halfs but not the 2F's. Even if thats not accurate, it is not in place on this motor. Got distracted by GSMTR but seein all the nice cruisers and the progress Jon's made has got me wanting to get this thing up and running soon.

I need to journey out of my F filled world occasionally. Good luck getting that sucker off.
