Message from Theresa from NFS:

"Hi Everyone - The 2 work weekends we have scheduled are this upcoming weekend (Nov 20-21) and then December 18th. For this upcoming work weekend we are not going to do any heavy duty work with the guardrail. I would like any of the volunteers that are planning on coming up this weekend to focus on trash clean up, cleaning out drainage ditches with hand tools and putting up trail markers. The reason for this is there is an event on the trails this weekend the Rockvember Event and we'll have folks patrolling instead of working on the maintenance of the trails and additionally with more people coming up to ride the trails this weekend I think it'll be too busy to have people on the trails with equipment. I don't want any accidents. We'll have the correct names of the adoptees on the trails by this weekend as they signs have arrived! Also, with the ribbon cutting ceremony this Friday for the Dickey Bell Trail Bridge it is a bit hectic as well.

I propose that on the December 18th work weekend that what ever clubs are available to work then that we coordinate the installation of guardrail, reflectors/arrows for some of the curves that are difficult to see at night and cleaning out of drainage ditches and installation of haybales. This weekend will be the first one after the trails are closed for the winter and we'll be able to do work on the trails and not worry about blocking traffic.

Please let me know if your clubs are planning on working on the December 18th weekend. Also, please let me know if any of your clubs or members will be able to make it for the Dickey Bell event this Friday the 19th at 2 pm. So far we have the CFSJC members coming and that is the trail they've adopted. Thanks a lot everyone. I appreciate all of your help this season!"

Dec 18th?

This is a work weekend? Since I'm new I'm assuming you spend the day working on the trails? Do people stay the night and camp out? I'm interested in helping. Thanks for the info

sounds good...

Does any one plan to stay the night? Comming from Havelock its a bit of a drive there and back in one day. I'm up for camping if anyone else whats to....

Please let Janet at Arrowhead know if you plan to camp and she will have a spot for you, there is no cost to volunteers to camp or ride trails.

I'm game for working on Dec. 18, but will probably only go out for the day.

Some may think I'm crazy for asking...

Is anyone interested in going out to URE Saturday (12/18) for the trail work day? I know it will be cold, but it would still be good to participate. When we were out there the other weekend, there was some trash to pick up, plus the log "bridge" had come apart and could stand to be removed. I know there are likely other Forest Service plans, but either way, we should attempt to have a presence. Who's with me...

Bueller?
Bueller??

Saturday's looking to be a pretty good mess of snow/rain. I agree with you Clint, but I have Christmas shopping duties with Lily this weekend (Mom gifts). Let me know, as I can move stuff around, and try and get both accomplished.

i plan on going if it isn't raining, i'm not into getting soaking wet in the cold weather.

Has anyone spoken with Janet at Arrowhead or do I need to send an email? Did anyone stop by during the December URE Trip?

I did not stop by. Not sure if Brian had a chance.

If it would be easier, you can send me Janet's info, and I can try to get in touch with her tomorrow. I wonder if they might even cancel the work day because of the weather.

The other option since there may only be 2 or 3 of us is to wait and drum up more volunteers for a work day in Jan/Feb/Mar. It would be nice to get at least 10 folks to get more accomplished. Thoughts?
