Reference Help - Gas tank from 01 Taco fit an 01 4runner?

Any previous experience would help - trying to find out if a 01 Tacoma Gas Tank will bolt in to my 01 4runner. I would compare directly, but I am 400 miles from both my rig and the donor vehicle...running out of resources from searching...

Howdy! I'm guesin you've already compared the OEM part numbers? Any aftermarket sources for oversizzed/relacement tanks that might help? Hit the LV Craigslist to find the rigs locally. Ask the seller to send you a phonepix if the tanks?? John

my buddies 97 runner tank is completely different from my 01 taco,,,, older i know but the same body style, cant imagine they changed it.

Thanks for the responses guys, a couple of years ago (for those who remember) I went on a midnight recovery for Jason (old Truckwerks) on upper Sycamore and crunched my current tank pretty tough in the rock garden - thus I have lived without a gas gauge ever since.

I gotta lead on a new tank from a wrecked taco, and wanted to find out if it was a bolt in....after lots of research it is not, even on 4wd like models. I've decided I'm gonna make it work in true "Just Weld It" style and mock up new mounts to match the taco tank...at least the sending unit connection and pump are the same...
