I'm getting close to completing the install of a redwood countertop on my bar. I acquired two redwood slabs, milled them and almost finished installing hammered copper edging. My question is what would be the best finish for the redwood? I would like something that has a satin finish, not too glossy, with a high build-up.

I have no good experience with stains and sealer on Redwood. The great thing about redwood is that it repels water and everything else pretty darned good.

I would take a piece of the scrap wood from the bar top and try a few different things.

I did a thick acrylic clear coat on a Redwood Mantle once. I got thousands of tiny air bubbles in the finish. Had to sand it off and start over.
