Great looking ride. I waxed my red 60 this weekend and it reminded me why I hate red vehicles. I think half the paint ended up on the wax pad.

Sweet! I like that color almost as much as (my) red!

Did you do any of the engine bay?

And, is that just primer overspray on the frame/springs, or did you paint underneath, too?

I don't have the skills/money/time to pull something like that off, but I know my red 60 could use it. Of course, I'd probably keep mine red!

We didn't do the engine bay. We painted everything underneath thats visible, nothing fancy, just primed and rattle canned with "Rust Stopper ;)" black. Keeping it red would have been much easier. Without pulling the glass and doors (we did pull the lift & tail gate) a lot of meticulous taping was required. I still have a couple spots around door moldings where some tiny spots of red or primer escaped, but I'm going to have the left-over paint put into spray cans for fixing these and future touch-ups.

Not sure about the lift. It's older BDS springs (2.5"?) I bought used and 1.5" shackles. I never measured but I would guess it's about 3" in the front and 4" in the back over stock. The rear shackles are almost straight up and down. She rides pretty firm and I can see why longer springs would give a better ride. They supposedly have around 5000 miles on them so I don't know if they will relax much more.

Looks sweet! As a member of the freeborn red cruiser club I understand the problems that come along with the color, oxidation. Just like photodog my paint always ends up on my wax pad also.

Gulp....

Would you mind posting a more detailed list of parts needed for that paint job, specifically, the amount of paint, sealer, primer, etc.

Thanks.

No problem. My buddy picked up all the supplies and he's out of town for a few days but I'll put a list together when he gets back.
