its amazing what time and water can do. last time a ran red creek was 2 yrs ago, right after some major flooding and there was NO sand in the creek bed. wish i had pics but i was concentrating on driving. from about 1/3rd the way to the verde it was simply a boulder field and got worse as you went down. some of the sections where the trail leaves the creek bottom were just not accessible having been washed out to a vertical berm as much as 7ft deep, i'm not exaggerating, one of them i was really worried about being able to climb back up on my way out, and i hit everything below sheet metal level on rocks several times. nice to see such a short amount of time that the creek is almost back to the mellow scenic trail it used to be.
