Can I assume my alternator is getting week?
Just noticed today that red battery light is coming on at at idle but goes out with just a touch of the accelerator petal. Also comes on when activating the AHC.
Thanks for any advice

Check the battery and battery cables, then measure voltage at idle and whatever higher RPM is getting it to turn off. If the battery and cables are good, the alternator might just need brushes.

Tested the battery engine off and the voltage was 12.6
Again tested with engine on and then with electrical on and both time it measured 13.9
Cables looked ok but I cleaned them anyway and now the battery light flickers at start up then stays off.
Any advice on where to buy quality rebuild parts would be appreciated!

Could still be a battery, but i wouldn’t count on it.

I had the same issue, last year.. cleaned the posts, made sure everything was tight and clean. Still same light on idle, and went away while driving. I had an extra battery to toss in.. no change. A few days later, light stayed on permanently. I didn’t have time to rebuild mine, so bought a new Toyota alternator.. Do yourself a favor, and buy a new plug housing, as it’s almost a given you’ll destroy the old one, taking it off.

I’m gonna say, swapping an alternator on these isn’t the easiest job, but easy enough for an afternoon.

I kept my old OEM, and have a rebuild kit for it, i’ll get around to rebuilding it soon, so I have a spare.
