what would cause this? I know sensors like weight sensors and what not but I don't have any.. would a missing seatbelt sensor effect this?

If it helps, I did do some searching on this forum and others and found how to test the srs.. unfortunately it doesn't work, the abs light starts blinking and airbag just stays solid
again, any suggestions?

The "Free-50" fix, if you are not worried about a possible safety concern,
is a piece of duct tape, 1 inch x 1 inch...
:grinpimp:

why do you have duct tape on your dash?

"if you are not worried about a possible safety concern "

by this I meant, if you aren't worried that the airbag is a ticking timebomb that may go off when you are driving in the bank ATM drive thru...

and of course you could isolate the wire and cut it or pull the fuse, or re wire in some other configuration.

I just used a 1 x 2 inch piece of duct tape on my INSTRUMENT CLUSTER recently to take care of an intermittently lighted red seat belt warning light, and my blue high beam light that both blind me while night driving. You would be surprised on how much the glare of such a small light could affect driving visibility.

Assuming you're talking about a Tacoma, the most common failure is with the Spiral Cable. It's the part inside the steering column that carries the current to the Driver's Air Bag. It is also covered under the Toyota powertrain warranty for 5 years or 60K miles.

A scan tool is the best option for checking the code, though.

I had that issue with my Tundra and it was an issue with my seatbelt. I replaced the seatbelt under warranty and it went off.
