Anyone reading who's in the market for a recovery-capable jack but can't decide which way to go might benefit from the article I just published here. I've used them all in the field, but remain agnostic and give them all fair due.

Excellent article @Jonathan Hanson and very unbiased.

I still haven’t gotten away from the trusty 8 ton bottle jack (along with some boards for xtra lift and improved stability) and/or my Hi Lift. I really do like the Safe Jack stuff too, although I haven’t sprung for any of his kits yet. But am seriously considering one of his 6 ton bottle jacks…they seem to be excellent.

That ARB thingamagig is nice but the price is Krazy!

Again, good article and thanks!

Thanks for posting...very good read! I'd love to have one of those ARB jacks but good gosh they're expensive. Having grown up winching vehicles with come-alongs I certainly understand the danger of getting into the ZoD of a Hi-Lift.

Just my 2 cents, but dollar for dollar it's tough to beat a factory Toyota bottle jack and a Hi-Lift. One just has to be aware and exercise caution.

I had been looking for a good jack option. The Humvee jack looks nice and the adapter may be a fun weekend project to machine.
