Guys,

What lights would you recommend for the brackets that replace the rear wing on the upper tailgate?

I want to use these brackets but need some LED expertise on which lights to mount. Also, do any come in red / colored LED? That would be great when out on the beach surf fishing or pulling into camp sites late.

I found these,

What beam pattern?

What about a light bar across the back or is that just too much light?

I set up a VisionX Solo pod at each rear corner of my '99 (The flood filtered VisionX pods work fine but this was before all the choices on the market today). I have the Front Runner rack system...mounted each of the lights, with a little simple drilling and tapping, to a photographer's aluminum ball head and then anchored simply to the FR rail.

Its super to be able to quickly and easily rotate either lamp in any direction depending upon the lighting need. Straight down for more indirect lighting; straight back for super back-up light cast; straight up for RTT and/or a different indirect light wash for camp; tailgate* for food prep, etc. *I also have an super bright LED strip mounted to the inside rear window, on a PWM dimmer, that floods the entire tailgate area including about 1/2 to the middle seat area).

Very versatile to have them on a gimbal. You could also use small (1/2") RAM mount system to accomplish similar...

I pulled power from my rear aux fuse panel (runs off the aux battery in the engine compartment)...with a rocker on/off switch on the dash. The only thing I wish I would have done at the time of installing everything would have been a 3-way switch...so on/off duties could be performed from the cab or the tailgate area...but not inconvenient enough to pull the drawers back out, etc. to make it happen...

Lastly, I have a Streamlight Knucklehead I use in the garage and also carry with me on excursions. Its the best work light I've found in all my years! It has a magnet mount and fully rotating, on 3-axis, LED head. And 12v as well as 120v chargers. Perfect when you need portable light anywhere...
