I am looking to install some fog lights on my 96', but I don't want to drill in the bumper and I would like to keep the stock bumper installed. My previous car (95' 4Runner) had a brush guard, which I now know is a damage multiplier, and my PIAA's installed right to it. I am done some research on center grille guards only as a mounting option, which might be better than having a full brush guard in an accident.

Any ideas or pictures of installations would be great. Thanks!

Grill's made of plastic. I don't think it would hold up well to the weight of lights if you have any kind of vibration at all. By vibration, I mean the type you'd have when driving on rough roads.

I recall some OEM bumpers having 2 holes in the top of the bumper that can be used. I think there's a flush bolt head on top. Maybe you can mount them there?

Uh, drill holes in the bumper and mount them.

But he doesn't want to drill.

And I'm saying get over it.
I don't disagree with you.
But that's not what he wanted.
Personally, I would've drilled, but I don't want to assume he doesn't have a reason for not drilling.

I will drill the bumper for my Hella 1000FFs the moment I take the WAAGs off to Craigslist/Ebay them. That said, as MoJ & NorCalDoug also agreed, get over it and pick up the drill!

I've got a set if PIAA 520's and just used the existing bolt on the stock bumper. Fits just fine.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of JAOS, but this was kind of what I was thinking and what EnDLeSS might have been thinking of, too:

From their site:

"The compact lightweight Lamp Stay is predrilled to mount a pair of JAOS Off-road Challenger Lights or other auxiliary lighting to your vehicle without drilling or modifying the front bumper, this makes it the perfect mild approach to modifying your SUV while maintaining a stock appearance. Made from T-304 stainless steel, the Lamp Stay is triple chrome plated and features a simple complete bolt-on installation with no drilling required. Optional brackets available for the use of up to four lights on one Lamp Stay for maximum lighting capabilities."

This "should" accomplish what PACNW96 wants to do, I hope.

Of course, Brentbba's method would work well, too.

FWIW, HTH

I just drilled mine. Zero wobbling with Hella's biggest lights. I'll be putting another set on the 97 tomorrow same fashion. You could also fab a low bracket from one set of existing bolts atop the bumper to another and then drill that.

Both mounts are used by the bumper, but you could possibly get longer screws an have the lights use the hole, but those points are important for the bumper mount so I wouldn't mess with them....I was going to use them for my Antena mount and after some looking and thinking decided to do otherwise.

The first hole is always hard, after that it's much easier. Plus the holes are small and can always be plugged.

I'd say front bumper in front of the grill. That's where mine will go when I eventually get them.
