hey guys-

just picked up a new 17LC and want to get the running boards off in favor or a more stout option. currently living in an extended stay hotel while the house is getting remodeled, so no garage to do my own work. i'm in south bay LA and am looking for a reputable shop to do a slee slider install, the closer the better.

would like to find a place that knows LCs as i'll likely get to some upgrades once the money pit remodel is over.

thanks

jp

Speaking from experience - there won't be any funds left over for the rig once the remodel is "over". And no reference to "The Money Pit" can be made without paying homage to once of the best laughter scenes ever....
And to answer your question - sorry I don't know of any in the Bay Area - I lived in Moraga a loooong time ago!

Look into the SoCal clubhouses, most have threads listing reputable service providers. If you were closer to SD I'd help for beer, installed the Slee-ders, the biggest pain was drilling the holes. Did you look at the Budbuilt's or Trail-tailor? I think no drilling on the BBs, maybe same for TT but I don't recall.

Slider install just requires a drill, good cobalt drill bits, and patience. Also I highly recommend long sleeves and work gloves. I think I did mine in about 4 hours in my driveway. I realize you probably won't want to do yours in the parking lot of the Motel 6, but pretty much any shop willing to do the work that can follow a set of simple instructions will rock it for you.

There is drilling required for the Trail Tailors but they're from underneath so it's fairly easy. Plus, @reevesci includes the drill bit you need. As long as you have a decent drill you're set.

Dirty Parts in West LA may be an option for you. I was thinking about Slee sliders as well and gave them a call since they promote Slee products; however, they wanted to charge a markup on the sliders and shipping. Seems like a reputable shop overall and they do a lot of work with LCs, but the price was a bit high for me and I ultimately decided to not go with the Slee sliders.

Topline Performance in Huntington Beach may be an option to consider. I installed the sliders myself, but had Topline install the Ironman FCP suspension. They had several LCs on site (80s and 100s), and posters on those forums listed Topline as a good place for service in So Cal.

Talk to Jason @ Trail Tailor. White knuckle is local.

I know you're looking at Slee but like my WK sliders. If WK is local to you...

The evolution off road guys in fullerton are great people, I would give them a try. They built my JK and they have done a few Toyotas, total class act
