How well does that cap clear the hood? Looks quite thick, and I'd be concerned about the hood slapping it when closing.

The cap is a little thicker than the stock gauge. I installed it on my 1985 FJ60 and closed the hood without a problem. Once I was convinced I wasn't having a temperature problem, I put the OEM gauge back on.
