Just when I thought all my A/C problems were solved. I don't believe my switch for the Recirc/Outside air is functioning. With the engine off, I hit the switch and hear silence - there should be the faint sound of a motor moving the diverter, right? This is a pain because it lets warm air in from outside under normal driving conditions. Is there a fuse that could the the culprit? Where is the diverter located, and how can I test it? Thanks guys.

Try hitting the switch with engine running - then check.

I've never actually heard a diverter move/hum, etc...
I simply trust what the indicator lights tell me and whether or not I have fresh or stale air.

Could you check yours for me? With the key in the ignition and set to "ON", wait for the beeb to stop and then select in the "Recirc/Fresh" button and see if you hear anything. I'm curious. Thanks. I did this in my other Lexus - SC400 and could hear it move.

Why don'y you put it to flow to the vent, then take a drive with the fan off. While moving hit the recerc/out air button. If it is working you should feel are flowing through the vent when on outside are and no flow when it is on recerc.

I'll try this tonight and report back.

Okay with the windows down and driving about 50mph with the A/C off and I honestly did not feel any air coming from the vents when set to recirc or fresh. Maybe it is stuck in the recirc mode? Which is good I guess as I rarely like the outside air coming in. I don't think this will be a problem so I may just leave it for now.

Try turning on your defrost with the Recirc off, and then turn Recirc on. Mine always has an increase in blowing doing this. I have never noticed a difference in any other mode except for being able to smell exhaust when set to fresh in traffic.

My 97 makes a clear motor sound when switched. As I drive I can only faintly feel air moving through the vents when set to fresh. My father's 95 does not make a sound when you switch. Also last summer the a/c in his cruiser didn't seem to be working that great, but the a/c was up to pressure etc. This led us to belive the fresh/recirc wasn't working and it was stuck on fresh. Next time I talk to him I'll ask if he bothered with it or what not.

I still have this issue - it's weird it seemed to happen at the same time that I had one of the A/C amplifiers go out and my low speed on the fan quite working. I have since replaced the A/C amp and have all my fan speeds - but no int/ext functionality. I may try swapping in another control panel as some of the lights are out as well - maybe this is linked?? Does anyone know where the actuator is located?? I would prefer it to be in recirc all the time at this point - rather than half-way int/ext which is what I suspect. Thanks guys - you are all friggin awesome!! (Sorry it's late and I'm a little giddy : )
