I just purchased a receiver winch mount (for those emergencies when you need to pull yourself back out of where you got yourself into).:p

I also just bought a new 10,000 lb winch which I am going to put on the front, and then take the old 8,000 lb Ramsey and put on the receiver mount.

My question is, what gauge power cables should I buy to run the power that distance (from the front of the 40, or 55 to the rear)?

I am thinking 4 gauge. Thoughts?

look up a table on the web showing resistance / voltage drop as a function of gauge, distance, and amps pulled. Plan for max amp, measure length, choose max voltage drop you can live with and it'll give you the smallest wire you can have.

looking at the distance and the hp, and looking at other winch specs, I think 1/0 gauge is the only way to go.
