They put the (B) gasket in and it still had the James Bond Smoke Screen. Any ideas? It seems to be over fueling but the manual does nt give much information according to my mech.

Ask him to do a compression test to rule that out. Then,if the compression is ok,get the pump sent to someone who knows how to test/fix them.
Might as well have the injectors checked at the same time.

too much smoke mate!

I don´t know the reason, but that is not normal :frown:

Holy f***, looks like there is a ton of coolant in there!

Where is Crushers when you need him! lol

I had the Land Cruiser towed up to Fredricton to a Toyota dealer upr there, they have a senior mechanic that works on diesel. He was able to get the vac working properly so it runs smother but still smokes. Timing is OK. We had another injector pump from another engine and there was no differance, still heavy smoke screen.

We replaced the F head gasket with the thinner B gasket which did solve the problem, we have a D gasket on hand which is the mid size the question is whether to try that he says it would cost an extra $1000

I do not know if this could be a reason for my problem with over fueling and smoke, but before my engine went one of the belts went I had it towed in and the belts replaced. They could not find a belt for the A/C so they left the belt off. Would the belt for the A/C power anything else or cause problems?

I have seen a few of these with the AC belt removed but none had this issue.

Is there water in the fuel system? (fuel filter/tank) I had similar symptoms with sound/smoke of same colour (without a rebuild) and it was the fuel filter that had water in it, changed the filter and it cured it.

Or ... could it by a fault with the ECU?

Get youre mechanic to take out youre injectors and take them to an injector specialty place, I just got mine cleaned and rebuild for $100 each plus tax. It Costed me $450 with tax and my smokey 2lt-e doesn't smoke anymore, and alot better fuel economy. Although yours seems to be smoking more than mine did..

Another good thing to try is an ECU reset. Disconnect youre batteries then leave youre headlights on overnight, should be at least 8 hours. That will drain youre resistors and everything in the ecu. In the morning turn off youre headlights and reconnect batteries, and run the truck for a while take it for a drive.

But If you've never done anything to youre injectors this would be the first thing I would try..

New fuel filter was installed when engine rebuilt

ECU was blocked off.
