MUD - I need your help. My mechanical skills are limited, but I think I should be able to fix this on my own with your help....

Problem: The rear windshield wiper mechanism on my 06 100 Series does not pull the blade into the rear windshield.

Hypothesis: 1.) The spring no longer has the strength to pull the blade into the window
2.) The mechanism has been pinched or rusted and the spring is not strong enough to pull the blade into the window.

Question: 1.) Has anyone run into this issue? 2.) If so, how did you fix it?

For Reference:
I believe I am referring to part number 69209A in the following diagram:

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Can you clarify a bit. When you say “the blade is not pulled into the rear windscreen” do you mean it physically isn’t touching glass when the motor moves it through the wiping motion or that the wiper arm isn’t moving at all when you turn the rear wiper on?

The spring has likely worn out. You can buy a new part altogether, or you can attempt to source a new spring. I found one at a local spring & wire supplier a few years ago. I think it cost about $2.50 CAD.

Mine is an '01 LX, so it may have an older mechanism

It physically does not touch the glass. The wiper blade moves when I turn it on.

Thank you. Have you seen a thread or any good videos that show how to replace the spring?

No, I haven't... I recall it was a pain in the rear to get the spring out/in.

If the spring idea fails....

But the better price is from Partsouq. Even with shipping it's probably around $40.

Great info!! Have you purchased/used the Partsouq product?

Also, any chance you have a good instruction video or thread that demonstrates how to replace this?
Just thinking here.... Interior bottom door panel will need to be removed? Rear child proof latch needs removal? Then I can access the back side of the wiper blade mechanism?

Some folks are enjoying their minivan rear wiper upgrade.

I order from partsouq all the time (as do many here).

to replace the arm you just need to remove the plastic cap at the base of the arm. It covers a bolt that you loosen, then you remove the arm. You don’t need to do anything from the inside of the truck and the tool to help get the arm off is available from amazon for a couple of bucks (you can probably find the tool at Napa or any other car parts store as well). With a wiper arm puller tool you are looking at maybe a 15 minute job start to finish.

Just now seeing your post; after already purchasing an OEM replacement from Partsouq. However, thank you for the suggestion. This is an awesome alternative that I wish I had seen.
None the less, thanks everyone for your help.
