So, the ever vigilant employees of Discount Tire decided to break off one of the rear axle wheel studs on my FJ40. Do you have to remove the axle shaft to replace the stud? They gave me a coupon for a 'free' replacement at Brakes Plus on Cooper and Warner... little wary of that...

I don't know about 40's, but on the 80 you have to remove the axle, then the disc brake, then pull the hub off to change the studs. Guess how I know that. I stand over their ass like a hawk now, when I get my tires balanced. I won't let them use air tools on my junk anymore.

If you go back to that Discount store ask for them to fill out a claim. You can then take it to any shop and they will reimburse you. Had them jack up my Camaro by the floor boards and that was a fun time. Anywho....just go back there and fill out the claims form. Some guy Scott? Steve? from the Phoenix office will call you and tell you to just send the bill to them.
