I have a question reguarding a rear propeller mount. I noticed when pulling it apart, that the bolts that go thru the rubber donuts/ angle peices on frame were angled like the frame was to wide for the propeller mount. I got some 1/4 plate aprox 5" x 8" to use as a spacer between the frame and the angle pieces, hopefully allowing the bolts to drop straight in, instead of seemingly being in a bind. My question is- should I weld the plates AND angle pieces in, OR weld the angled pieces to the flat plates, then bolt the plates to the inside frame walls. Or, is this a none issue? On another note, I went thru the search looking for info on the correct way to install the seal between the trans/tc. It looked to be a 50-50 deal on which way it went in based on everyones experiance. I think it was Igge who stated that the seal went in " spring side towards the trans " due to her having done it both ways and this one working better. I hope so, as thats the way mine went in. As usual, any/all advice appreciated as this is kinda like on the job training trying to figure what the PO has done. Thanks, Al

 propeller? Got a photo?

OK, how about this. The same one Downey, AA have sold for YEARS. The one that bolts on the back of the transfercase, connects to angle pieces that are mounted to the frame. The same one that everyone complains about, but there aint alot of options with stock tranny/t case when doing a V-8 swap.

Propeller refers to this type of mounting system, offered by Advance Adapters.

Weld the plates to the frame, and then weld the brackets to the frame and be done with it.

Good luck!

Steve, THANK YOU. I had seen that picture before, it looks like you have things tacked into place, but knew I couldn't find it agin when I needed it. Did you read my tranny/tc seal install, did I do it right? Thanks, Al

no.

If you put the seal back in the way you found it, with the spring going towards the transmisson, you should be fine.

is this abetter option than the the factory set up. I know with the conversion you chANGe the mounting config. but would this benefit a factory 6 cyl. 4 speed setup ie my 78' that has no rear crossmember at all?

Not in my opinion.....but it is just mine.

I prefer the stock set up.

I concur. The cross member added on the back of the T/C adds stress to the AL case. THe stock approach of letting it float is better.

OK - never heard that mount called "propeller" before. Guess I might have known.
