I drove myself crazy last night trying to find some pics of various ways to run the exhaust coming out in front the rear tire and couldn't find any. I'm looking at welding in a magnaflow muffler between the frame and body and then welding the resonator with the existing tip a little bit after the the muffler. Any pics or ideas would be great but I'm set on the end of the exhaust being near the rear tire.

It will be smashed in after your first 2 wheeling trips. Why not dump it at the rear sub frame?

I almost never crawl over rocks. I'm in either mud or crossing ditches.
I'm not sure I know 100% where your talking about dumping it could you explain a little more

I understand the appeal of that look. With that being said (speaking from experience), the exhaust will turn your wheel black in a matter of weeks.

Mines near the rear tire, thought I'm not sure if that's what oyu are looking for. Its the stock exhaust with the resonator cut off right under the frame and an exhaust hanger added.

That's not exactly what I was talking about, I should've been more specific. I was talking about it coming out between the front tires and rear tires

May want to double check if you need a vehicle inspection. In Virginia it has to come out after the last passenger door to be legal. Not sure if that would qualify. If LA is different or you know a guy then go for it. I think ultimately you/your vehicle/your passengers would be happier with it exiting behind the tire somehwere.

On my beater fzj I have gutted cats and a magnaflow and it sounds like s***. I will be putting a nice large muffler on it once I get some other issues sorted out.

Here in LA all they have to do is make sure you can see out the windshield and it's not throwing a code. Our preferences might be different on the sound I've hated some the sound of a certain vehicle that everyone else lives and the other way around. Which magnaflow do you have on yours?

The thought of that location makes me cringe! Even if you are out wheeling in mud, I feel like that could easily get damaged in that location. You know you're style better than me though. The reason why you haven't found much on that location is that it isn't really the best.

Lol I didn't mean to hurt you. I was thinking it would be alright because 90% of the exhaust will be level with the frame. I'm still looking into what I want to do I'm not 100% sure just yet.

I couldn't tell you what kind of magnaflow but it is really short. probably a 15" long and 8" wide. It was on there from the PO.

Too bad you have to see out the windshield. I always have a soft spot for stacks out the hood!!

You've got the louder magnaflow. I've always liked hood stacks too. I'm going to get the 6" by 18" magnaflow it's supposed to sound pretty good.

Might have to try that out. I like a little noise but my current setup sounds a little silly to me.
