I would like to find an awning that I can pull out over the rear hatch when it is open. My main purpose is to protect electronics in my drawers from the rain and to provide a transient shelter for people when unloading other rain gear from the cargo area.

I don't have any place left on the side of my roof rack for a 270 degree or similar wrap-around awning. Nor do I need that, since I'll have separate pop-up shelters.

Does anyone have a rear awning that they keep attached to their roof rack and that they can pull out over the hatch when open?

Frontrunner makes an awning swing arm that might be of interest. Pretty pricey...

That $800 bracket has come up for other needs too. In this case, I don't have a place for it on the side. But I've also been regularly disappointed with Front Runner's accessories. I find the overall concepts are good, but the details are often lacking, in my opinion.

Something like this?

4.5 feet wide seems about right.

Probably have to mount it pretty high to clear the hatch wind deflector, or have to remove the wind deflector (not a great option for LX, doesn't look too bad for a TLC).

I have a Rhino-Rack Dome 1300 awning attached to the back of my Front Runner rack. It clears the spoiler when the hatch is open. I don't know if they're still for sale.

I also had a Front Runner Moveable Awning Arm, but decided it wasn't going to work; it stayed in my garage until I got a Quick pitch shower enclosure. I put the awning arm on the right rear of the roof rack, then attached the quick pitch to it. Works great; it gets the shower thing away from the side slope of the LC, and I can move it around back, under the dome awning, if it's raining too much.
