Apparently the rear subwoofer in my 2001 LC is blown. I unplugged it for the time being.

Does anyone know of a direct replacement, or something that can be added with very little modification?

I am not looking to add amps or a gaudy speaker box to the cargo area. Just a simple replacement :)

Ah that thread didn't come up in my search, thanks bamabrock.

I'm on the lookout as well. That thread was for the single speaker replacement. I've got 2 4" speakers in my 99 that I would like to replace with either 2 better ones or a single one that would fit. I wonder if the 6" replacement will fit (with minor modification) to the current 2 holed version. Does anyone know? Getting a 6" subwoofer is easier than 4" subwoofer with the required ohm/watts.

I recently bought replacements off ebay. The stock subs are 2 ohm.

The older 2, 4" speakers are 2 ohms. Don't know about the 6"
This. I would assume the 6" is 4 ohm and that the older 2, 4" speakers were wired to give the amp a 4 ohm resistence. I still might hook the stock 2 speaker sub leads to a dual voice coil 8" JBL sub I've had in a closet for the last 10 years. If they could decently push it, I could throw it in a cheap ebay box and forget about the stock enclosure.

Reviving an old thread but does anybody know how much power the OEM amp sends to the subwoofer? Like bamabrock mentioned, it would be nice to know what the maximum size of a sub the amp could push without having to add yet another amp. 6" like the one I have or maybe even an 8" or 10".

I put an infinity bass link powered sub in the left side of my cargo area. Doesn't take up much room looks kind of factory and the bass output blew me away. Night and day difference. I couldn't imagine not having it. My wife said it sounds better than the JBL. system in her 2008 avalon limited.

Blew my OEM sub the other day too. :(
I really don't want to do a big project, just replace or fix it.

I fix my sub on the LX recently. The foam around the cone was rip. So I put some silicon glue around it or glue gun as suggested from the member here. Works like a charm.

old news. Use thread link on earlier post. pull off the panel, take out the sub enclosure, replace speaker with new or used woofer (mid/bass or whatever you can find). The 6" sub is 4 ohms and if you have the old type 2 4" they are 2 ohms. I suggest to take the extra time if you have a soldering iron to solder the wires to terminal. this way you never have to worry about loose connections. I did mine using only a multimeter to determine ohms and correct wires from the factory connectors. When time to connect wires, I only used 2 of the 4 wires. I am not sure what would happen if i tries to run both wires to the same terminals on the speaker?

hint: To check if a speaker is blown use a cordless drill battery. When connected to the speaker with some wires it will move if not blown. :grinpimp:

How did you wire the basslink? Inline with stock sub? Any pics of where you have it mounted? Thanks!

I pulled the pins out of the harness that contains wires that lead to the stock subwoofer. I placed it in the left rear cargo area in front of the jack and lug wrench panel. I stood it up vertically. Fits fine there

You were able to plug an amplified signal into a powered sub no problem? I want to do the same

No. I used the rc a outputs from the sub output on my kenwood ddx 371 radio. Ran those to the sub. Also ran power cable to sub from battery. You need to run the remote turn on wire from the radio to the sub and a wire from the sub level control switch to the sub. All wires are hidden under trim. Here's a picture of the level control installed. And a picture of the sub placement.
