I was out wheeling yesterday and noticed that my shackles were not straight up and down.

Closer inspection showed that the bolts were not centered in the eye of the spring. So I figure that the bushings are worn and need to be replaced.

What is the diameter of the spring eye and what size bushings do I need.

I have a bunch of red poly bushings that I bought years ago for the truck, but cant remember why.

Stock springs and crushers shackles.

I used sor's chart last time i had to get bushings for my springs. Which are different than stock. If i recall correctly rears are fj60 size and fronts are fj40 size. But again my springs are supposed to be on a much newer 45 . Ymmv

Anyone?

Please don't force me to get my FSM out and ...read.

edit:
OK, I just checked the FSM and the Haynes book.

Nada, Zero, absolutely no info on the bushings.

Do you think a search on mud will help?

so.. Click on the link, go to the page,
Since you have aftermarket shackles and pins.. Probably measure the OD of the pins in your shackles, compare them to the chart, try and find one that fits the OD of stock springs or whatever you have on your truck and the same bushing that has an ID of your aftermarket pins on your shackles.

Thanks.

I spent some time looking at that page the other night. I assume I have stock pins and know I have stock springs. I was hoping Crushers would pipe in about his shackles. I'll PM him.

I also found several old threads that you mentioned the various bushing dimensions in. Thanks for that too.

I was trying to avoid taking them apart before I have correct replacement parts in hand.

Measure the diameter of the thread sticking out from your shackle Kevin.

It will get you your bolt diameter.

 Why didn't I think of that.

Anyway, Crushers confirmed it's the stock bolt, 9/16x5 1/2.

So I'll order stock bushings and stock bolts.

Any opinion on poly vs. OEM rubber?

Did you ever find the correct bushings? I've ordered a set of 1" and 1 3/8", basically all the options Cruiser Corp has and that still doesn't seem to be the correct size. I'm trying to put springs from a '76 FJ45 under my '80 HJ45. The FJ45 springs appear to have an 1 1/4" eye, 1 5/16" if I clean out the rust. It looks like SOR is recommending 1 1/8". Any suggestions?

the sor bushings work great, we use them all the time. just make sure you order them for the proper pin size!
