I have searched the site and have found posts that say the rear shock nut is 22mm and other that say 17mm. I have a 2004 LC and am gonna change out the rear shocks this weekend and want to make sure I have the right size wrench.

Thanks in advance

22mm is OEM for the top nut on an '04. A ratcheting wrench is nice for that top nut, but what made the job possible for me on my '04 was a Klein Grip-It S12H strap wrench on the shock body. By swinging under the back end and putting my foot on the strap wrench I was able to get enough force to break the nut loose. Of course it soaked for a day in PB Blaster and got hit hard with a drift first.

I recently changed out my rears and used a vice grip on the top of the shock body just under the upper nut. Worked like a charm on both sides.

No floorboard cutting, no strap wrench, no shock body shroud sawing. Just a regular sized (or large) vice grip and some PB Blaster/patience.
