Hi all,

I recently got some new seats out of a different model of Cruiser. Right now I have a bench seat that roll-and-tumble down and my new rear seat actually consists of two seats that roll-and-tumble separately (though are one seat when both up).

In any case, the bolt pattern is different and I have absolutely no idea as to go about installing these seats, without paying an autobody shop the $400 I was quoted. After searching on the forum I see that you need to have plates, drill holes and then bolt the seats to the floor using the plate. However, here are my questions:

1. What kind and thickness of metal is the plate?

2. What type of bolts do I use and how do I thread the plate/floor of the Cruiser to accommodate the bolts?

If anyone can help me with this, I'd be grateful!

Thanks!

What did the seats come from? If you rough place them in, do the little lock bars line up with the new seats lock fitting? Are the mounting brackets on the seat flat like the BJs tumble seat or angle mounts like the 80 series seats?

How easy it will be will depend on the seat.:meh:

The seats came from a newer BJ or Prado (can't remember). The mounting brackets are flat, while my BJ70 ones are angle ones. The lock bars seem to line up okay...

Anyway, considering the lock bars line up, can anyone walk me through the process as outlined above as to how to get these seats in??

So, I was bored and was researching your seat mounting question, and are the seats you got the split seats from the LJ70s?

I think the front mounting bracket is the same for the LJ as the BJ based on the diagrams from Toyodiy.

Post up pics of the new seats and the back of your BJ with the carpeting out.

Okay, will do! I'm pretty busy over the next couple of weeks (major exam looming), but I'll try to get it up as soon as possible.
