With my 3 inches of lift I needed additional protection for my trailer - it was getting blasted on gravel roads. These come off easily if needed. Cost was about $4 including hardware - perhaps my cheapest mod yet.

I agree that agressive tires will spank a trailer. My boat trailer looks like hell.......

Sorry - the a/c shop that serviced my system initially tried a Corolla R/D, but it wouldn't fit for some reason. I don't know the P/N of the one he ended up with. I wish it were a little bit shorter, or that Christo would hurry up and design a guard that will bolt up to his front bumper (like the ARB one).

Guys, the mudflap humor is greatly appreciated, but it is sooo juvenile. If you spend a lot of time designing a trailer, and $$ buying it and then modding it, the last thing you want is to turn it into crap by blasting it with .50 caliber rocks. My expensive mountain bikes ride back there too.

The mudflap material can be found locally. It's made of recycled tires and is available in several thicknesses from 1/8 inch through 1/4 inch, I think. It is cheap - 6 sq ft for about $7. I picked the thinnest size so it would flex, and I mounted it with small hardware with small nuts on the inside. If one extension gets pinched it will hopefully tear off before the factory flap and flare does ;( At least, that is the idea.

If I ever get into serious rocks (not many around here in eastern WA) I will remove the factory mudflaps as well as the bolt-on receiver. The trailer isn't made for rocks anyway....

As far as multiple posts - I posted the mudflap post here (80 tech) and the Treg coupling post on ChitChat since it's not 80 specific. I posted on 80 Series Cruisers On Line because it has International members. Is that excessive?

No. (It's not excessive).

Looks like an effective mod to do what you're wanting it to do. At a minimum it may spur ideas for others who are suffering from the same symptoms.
