hi there! can anyone tell me - the rear main seal is leaking in my 82 BJ60 - is this something i can fix at home, or is it a pain in the ass job that i need to deal with at a shop? If yes to the shop, does it have to be a cruiser shop?:wrench: thanks

Replacing the rear main seal requires you to drop the transmission. Start by using the search function at the top right of this forum. There are many posts on this subject.

Try tightening your oil pan gasket first, or replace it all together before you dive into a huge rear main seal project.
Tonkota is correct. When I tightened up the oil pan bolts my leaks became smaller. I have the seal but haven't taken the plunge yet.
