Had my engine rebuilt on my 86 FJ 60 about 6 months ago. The rear main seal leaked when I got it back. I took it back to have them fix it. They claimed they put in a double lipped rear main seal, it still leaks as before. What is a speedie sleeve? THey said they couldnt find one for the truck. What are my options?

are you sure it's the rear main and not the oil pan gasket? check the oil pan bolts first.

A speedy sleeve slips over the damaged surface where the seal rides, giving a smoother surface for a tighter fit. They usually work.

A Speedie Sleeve Is For Repairing Grooves On The Harmonic Balancer. This Would Apply To A Front Seal Leak. The Rear Main Seal Rides Directly On The Crankshaft. If You Remove The Inspection Cover On The Bottom Of The Bell Housing You Can Tell If It Is The Rear Seal Or Not. If Oil Is Present On The Engine Side Of The Flywheel, It Is A Leaky Rear Seal. If The Oil Is On The Clutch Side Of Thflywheel It Is The Front Trany Seal. If The Flywheel Is Relatively Dry Your Leak Is Elsewhere.
