Rear locker--no light, no blinking light, nothing

Hello, I have 1998 LC (purchased 3 weeks ago) with rear locker that I'm having difficulty with. When I have the truck in 4 low, the center diff locks automatically as expected. When I then turn the dial for the rear diff lock, nothing happens. The indicator light does not blink...it doesn't turn on at all. I have tried driving in a gentle figure 8. I was afraid there wasn't actually a locker on the rear diff so crawled under there and saw it with my own eyes. My searching turns up a lot of threads with blinking indicator lights and slow to engage units but I don't seem to be finding what I need. I've searched both the 80 section and the 100 series section.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Test the switch, I would pull it out to see if it is even connected to the wiring harness.
Could be that the previous owner or a shop forgot to plug it back.

Thanks, will do. By the way, Alberta in general is one of my favorite places. Strangely enough, Taber and Medicine Hat are at the top.

Dumb question, but how do you get the rear diff lock switch out to check it? I'm a little gun-shy now as I have broken a couple plastic tabs
