OK, I am far from a mechanic, but even my mechanic hasn't been able to identify the source of my frustration on my O4 Cruiser:

After pulling up to a stop, then letting off slightly from the brake, either to take off or just lightly letting some pressure off and staying on the brake, I get a noticeable light 'thud' from the rear end.

Just put on news shocks and brakes.....it's still there, though seems somewhat less.

My next stop is the Toyota Truck Dealership shop, but was hoping for some insight here. Thanks for the help!

Everything you need to know is right here..https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/401590-official-clunk-thunk-driveshaft-thread.html

You can DIY in less than 10 minutes. Get a grease gun, some MOLY grease, a flexible grease hose helps, crawl under your truck and lube your shaft. Thud will be gone. You will notice the smell of burning grease for a few days. Grease will splatter onto your exhaust and make it stinky. I went back under a few days later and cleaned up as best as I could.

My parents' 100 does it too, my personal theory is worn control arm bushings, allowing the rear axle to shift forward and back slightly depending on acceleration or braking. Just my $0.02

on my third 100 series, 2 of them thunked, got the grease gun. My FJ Cruiser also thunked...lubed them shafts myself as well.. I've heard the 200s do the same thing...mechanic at Toyota dealership said as long as you re grease, no rebuild necessary...

Just did mine, and the clunk is gone.
FWIW, the front and rear slip joints took a ridiculous amount of grease. I guess they were close to dead dry. Used the best part of a new M1 grease cartridge on these two joints!
