I recently missed out on an ARB bumper here on mud, so I decided to mod the stock bumper to last me for a while. The reflectors always seemed like an afterthought to me and figured the space could be used more wisely. I bought some cheap LED lights from Amazon and painted them with the factory thundercloud metallic in a rattle-can. I then removed the reflectors and cut out the backing with a razor knife. I spent maybe 20 minutes with a file “massaging” the opening until I could push the lights in all the way. I then removed the lights and lined the back side of the light housing flange with 3m heavy duty double stick tape. I shoved them back in and pressed firmly all the way around the edges. They do not sit perfectly flush around the outside due to the curve of the bumper face. I masked around the light and filled the small gap with silicone, and smoothed all around before removing tape. I’m very happy with the overall results, and I am admittedly picky to a fault. I am wiring them to a switch inside to use as a supplemental back up light, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about someone getting too close behind me with their brights on....
