Good day all,

I have been chasing a very annoying rattle in rear wheels, especially loud around 50mph.

It is clearly brake related as the noise disappears completely when braking.

Discs and pads are in decent shape, rotors have no lip and pads have more than 50% left on them. Braking system has no anomalies, balance is good, car brakes straight.

I have had the following work done:
- Anti-rattle springs installed (some were missing)
- Anti-squeal pads behind brake pads installed (not installed by previous owner...)
- Brake fluid replaced
- Caliper sliding bolts removed and cleaned
- Parking brake inspected and adjusted
- Backing plates welded (slight damage)

None of the above work has fixed the issue. It sounds like the pads are rattling against the disc, so I am now thinking to replace the pads early, as thicker pads will have less room to rattle. I am also thinking of a caliper rebuild kit, but not sure it would bring any value?

Has anyone encountered such an issue?

Thanks

the spring that holds tension on the pads + slide pins may be weak or not contacting correctly allowing the slide pins to move around?
