When I took my old pads and old parts out I really didn't pay much attention to the pad support positions, then I realized they were all different, I consider myself pretty mechanical so I thought I would figure out the puzzle.... what a pain.
After a lot of trial and error and searching this forum and others I matched each to a part number to the one someone posted on ih8mud, then as I matched each one to the picture I marked it with a sharpie pen, it help me put it back together without guessing. Here are the pictures and the locations, I hope it helps someone. This forum is great, people here helped me so many times since I bought my Land Cruiser.

This looks right but for me it will definitely damage one fo the boots.

ok i dont do brakes every day. In fact , i havent done brakes in decades - not since i helped my old had man do his ... So these fitting kits, in spite of the instructions in e.g thread above had me puzzled. Problem for me was the PO had removed some of them - so i was a bit blind. And FSM is not clear on fitting the fitting kit. I hope these pics help visually for someone somewhere to do it right/ save an hour like it cost me. Pay attention the green arrows pointing out the 'lips.' And if i still have them wrong pls let me know!!?

Just my 2 cents on which anti-squeal shim goes which side-> the shape of the horse shoe shim approx matches the shape of the bracket - so i say they go on outside.
